Reign Of The Blood King: Rain Ch 8 "Books and the growth stone"

Reign Of The Blood King: Rain Ch 8 "Books and the growth stone"
_________________________________________________________________________

Humans are weird creatures, they can be the salvation or damnation of anything that crosses their path. I think only the human can show such kindness... or cruelty. Why is it that these creatures have the reign of this world? Unable even to decide if they are united or divided, they can treat their fellow man like an enemy because of the color of his skin. Yes, human are very weird creatures, Yet time and time again they have pushed back the Beast-kin and the Elves. And established kingdoms throughout the known world. I think the thing I detested most about them is-

Rain closed the book entitled "humans through the eyes of another race". It was something he found in the night while he was crying. He didn't get far into it only a chapter or two. Every chapter was written by a different race so the reader could see just how humans were viewed. He wasn't very interested until he noticed a race that wasn't named. All it had for the race's name was (??????). The more he read the more the writer seemed to hate humans. Then Rain had stopped reading, he let out a sigh with a saddened face.

He was tired and though he didn't look out the window, he felt it was late. Rain put the book on the desk and laid down. Maybe he was tired from the walk here or maybe he was tired from crying, either way, he fell asleep quickly.

                                                                      ***

When Rain woke up his nose twitched to the smell of warm food. When he sat up in his bed he followed the scent to the desk in his room. On his desk was a plate with a warm slice of bread and next to it was hot soup. He quickly went to the desk and started eating.

Delicious...

Rain thought, he never had such soft bread and had only ever eaten one kind of soup. Soon the food was all gone. Satisfied he sat back in the chair then he saw a note under the bowl. It said

(Child,
when you wake up and finish eating come down to the study. I have some things to give you. And then we shall begin your training.
Ramses.)

When he opened the door of his room he jumped when he saw a woman? no, it was only half human. it didn't have legs. it has a tail. it was a woman with half the body of a snake. she was a lamia. but the thing that surprised Rain the most was that she was wearing a maid uniform. she was even dusting an old armor stand. He was speechless all he could do was stare in disbelief at the lamia cleaning in front of him. Then the lamia began to lightly hit the armor stand with a duster.

'Pow Pow'

Then she turned and saw Rain, she had been cleaning humming a happy tune and smiling but when their eyes met she froze. The lamia drop the duster and they continued to stare at each other for a short time when

"There you are, what are you doing? It's just the maid stop staring at her. Now come child, it's this way to the study."

When Ramses started talking it brought both Rain and the lamia back to reality. Rain quickly shook his head in disbelief and the lamia made a quick bow and ran off as fast as she could slither with her hands high in the air.

Still in a slight daze from what he just saw he followed Ramses into a room full of books. There was also several small tables around the room. But what caught Rain's attention was a large table in the center of the room.
It had three books on it, all of them were black.

"Here you may pick one of these grimoires, I have picked these especially for you. Oh and Though I say you pick think of it more as it picks you. just look at these books you'll know when it's yours."

"Ah... okay..."

Rain said as he looked at the books, though the books gave an ominous aura Rain didn't feel a connection with any of them. he gazes at the books and still felt nothing.

"Teacher... it's not working..."

Ramses glared at Rain with a cold stare. Then one by one he picked up the black books and threw them into the fireplace.

"good, I would have been disappointed if you had picked one of these books. I believe one of these would be more for you."

as he talked he pulled put another three books and placed them on the table. but these were different from the books before. none of them had titles but still had the place for them on their covers. but most of all they leaked pure magic power. instead of black they each had different colors, the one to the left was yellow. in the middle dark blue, and last to the right was red.

"ah, you don't need to feel anything with them. as long as you can read the title it means it has accepted you."

Rain looked over the books again nothing happened. he reached out his hand to touch the red book. but his hand was drawn to the blue one. when his finger felt the cover it wasn't cold like the books on the shelves, it was warm. like a sunny day at the sea. then water shot from the book and flooded the entire room in seconds. Rain couldn't breathe, but for some reason Ramses was fine. now that he look he wasn't caught in the current he just was standing in place. but this didn't change that he couldn't breathe. he opened his mouth to breath but he chokes on the water.

he grabbed the table in front of him and saw the books again. except now the blue book had a title. Rain was going to pass out soon from suffocating. with his vision starting to black he grabbed the book and a voice came from it.

<HUMAN, SAY MY NAME AND I WILL ACKNOWLEDGE YOU AS MY MASTER.>

Rain looked at the book and with no breath he shouted all loud as he could.

"Saltanat etmek aşktır!!!"

then as if the water that filled the room was never there it was gone. Rain gasped for air as he fell to the floor.

"well-done child, you many head back to your room and rest for an hour. when you're done resting go to the plaza."

he panted and tried to stand only to fall again, after one or two more tries. he got up and started walking to his room. when he got to the door of his room he felt someone watching him. he turned and looked at the end of the hallway and saw the lamia from before staring at him from the corner of the hallway.

"what?"

when Rain spoke the lamia jumped and ran off again. not really sure what just happened he walked inside his room and fell asleep the moment he laid down.

                                                                      ***

Rain woke up to a duster being poked in his side.

"ssssir Rain... you have to wake up..."

still feeling tired he sat up slowly. when he look it was the lamia maid who had woke him.

"Wha...?"

"Mister Ramsssses is waiting for you in the plaza!"

how long did I sleep Rain thought, as he quickly got up and started running to the plaza. he ran inside and he saw Ramses sitting down in a chair.

"Ah, perfect timing child.for today there's only one thing. all you have to do is fill this stone with your mana."

"But I don't know how to."

"don't think, just do."

Rain sat down and picked up the stone.

Teacher said I need to fill it right? so what if I think of it like water filling a cup?

as Rain thought the stone began to glow and explode. then came the runes and then the formed words.

<RAIN, YOUR POWER IN ONE YEARS TIME IS, [ADROIT COSMOS ARCHMAGE]>

"HAHAHAHA You'll be as strong as me? HAHAHA in a year? HAHAHAHA this... HAHA this is FANTASTIC! HAHAHAHA"

Reign Of The Blood King: Bluebell Ch 7 "Talks and Learning"

Reign Of The Blood King: Bluebell Ch 7 "Talks and Learning"
_________________________________________________________________________________

It's my fault.

I'm the reason Rain's gone. it's because of me. I wasn't strong enough, I couldn't even help. I should have helped mama and papa. maybe if I did they'd be here. they wouldn't be...

I have to get stronger. I won't let anyone else leave me. Mister David said that I can be stronger. he said that I can be really strong. he said, that one day I'll be strong enough to fight the Evil King.

He said the Evil King took Rain. that if I'm strong enough I can get him back. I'll work really hard so wait for me Rain, I'll save you.

                                                                           ***

"Miss Bluebell, Miss Forestwood, I have brought some tea." (Maid)

"oh? thank you" (Feya)

"Yes thank you Maid-san" (Bluebell)

as the maid puts down the cups Feya straightens her back and asked me.

"Bell, are you sure you want to do this? I mean if David wasn't a King he'd be an idiot. you don't have to do this you know." (Feya)

"If I didn't do this then what would happen to Rain." (Bluebell)

"he'll be fine I'm sure-" (Feya)

"Feya can you look me in the eyes and promise me he'll be ok?" (Bluebell)

with a dishearted face she shakes her head no. I smile as best I can and say

"Don't worry Feya, I'll be ok." (Bluebell)

tears start to well up in Feya's eyes, she wipes them and says

"Alright, but I'm going with you!" (Feya)

"Okay!" (Bluebell)
I say almost crying myself.
                                                                          ***

It's been almost a week since Rain disappeared, its weird not seeing him. no, I should focus on the task at hand. okay, Teacher was telling me the category system for mages. if I remember, it was something like this.

Magician - The lowest category a mage can be, people in this category can barely use even the most basic of spells.

Mage - The most common category of mages you'll see are this kind. they can use all basic spells but most of them have a higher compatible with certain elements. which allows them to excel in using magic of that element.

Arch-mage - It's very rare to see someone get to this category, most kingdoms would kill to get their hands on one. It's said that an Arch-mage can control the weather with a snap of their finger.

Vis-Mage - No human has ever reached this category before. So no one really knows just how strong someone in it is. but people believe that even the strongest Archmage couldn't do so much and scratch a Vis-mage.

each of the four categories has three ranks, the rank helps someone know how close or far they are from the next category.

Mortal - The lowest rank, people in this rank are a beginner or are just weak.

Adroit - the most widely seen, everyone in this rank is average. as long you were in the Mage category and had this rank you could defend yourself from most threats.

Earthbound - If someone reached this rank they are at the peek of the category they're in. they're either going to move to the next category soon or have reached the limit of the category they are in.

when calling someone's category and rank, you say the rank then their compatible with their element then you say their category. For example, if someone was of the Mage category had an Air compatible and was of the Adroit rank. you'd call them an [Adroit Air Mage]

my Teacher, named Mukaru is an [Earthbound Light/Dark Mage] now that I can use basic magic like 'Small Flame' or 'Reader Light'  she's having me take a basic test everyone takes. It's called a 'category growth' test.

"Now remember this is nothing to be afraid of, all you have to do is pour a little bit of your mana into this rock." (Mukaru)

she said with a smile. Mukaru is really strong, she said if I work hard I can be as strong as her. okay, I'll pour in some mana... slowly.

"now remember this test will only tell us how strong you're going to be in one year. so don't get your hopes up too high." (Mukaru)

"what would be a good result?" (bluebell)

"hmm... I think maybe an [Earthbound Magician] would be a pretty good result, no maybe that's a little too high. well, no matter what it is you'll get stronger then what this rock says. on the bright side even if you get a low score it tells you your compatible so you'll know what element that's for you." (Mukaru)

"oh! Okay!" (bluebell)

when I fill the small rock with my mana it starts to glow and float. then it exploded. I quickly look at Mukaru but she gave me a 'that's suppose to happen' look. then runes start forming from the piece of rocks. and they started to float. They then formed words.

"here it is" (Mukaru)

<BLUEBELL, YOUR POWER IN ONE YEARS TIME IS. [MORTAL UNIVERSE ARCHMAGE]>

"huh?" (Mukaru)

"ehh?" (bluebell)

author note: if your wondering Mukaru's name is a mix of the Japanese words for colorless and bright. you'll understand later why this is important.

Reign Of The Blood King: Rain Ch 6 "Crying, Fear, and more Crying"

Reign Of The Blood King: Rain Ch 6 "Crying, Fear, and more Crying"
_________________________________________________________________________________

Night came quickly, Rain looked around and saw what looked like grass hills everywhere he looked. It was a full moon so it was very easy to see. It should be a beautiful sight but Rain felt nothing. This was because of the effects of 『Calm Mind』which basically turned off almost all emotions. But the spell was almost at its end.

"Child sit down, we need to talk."

"yes?"

Rain said softly while sitting down.

"The spell I use to talk to you before will be wearing off soon. Therefore all emotions that you would have felt will come in all at once. Now, let's continue."

He said while getting up and started walking again. After some time the spell wore off completely. The sound of Rain's cry could be heard near and far. But he didn't stop walking, he'd just cry and walk and cry some more.

                           ***

They had been walking for so long,
Rain had lost count of the hours. All he could tell was that when they left it was night time. While they walked the sun had risen and it had set again. Rain's legs were already at the point of feeling nonexistent. If he complained about it Ramses would cast healing magic on him. This would make the pain go away but only for a little bit. He had also stopped crying some time ago.

"Teacher, are we almost there?"

"Not much farther child, look you can already see my study."

Rain looked up to see. Only to find nothing but the forest they had been in since midday. He opened his mouth to speak but he stopped himself from questioning his new teacher. He knew he had to respect his teacher but other then that Rain didn't know how to act towards him. so he just stayed quiet.

They had walked a while longer, an hour at the most. When Ramses said

"Home at last, come child I trust you can find your room."

A slight nod was all Rain answered with. He wasn't sure what happened the forest that had surrounded them disappeared like it was never there. Now it was a canyon but in no way was it a normal canyon. Every bit of stone was black, so sharp it looked like you could cut yourself just by touching it. Right in the center of the canyon floating in the air was a fortress, fit to be called a dark castle.

"You shall rest for what is left of today, feel free to look around but don't touch anything. I most go and grab something I will be back"

As he finished talking a portal open behind them and Ramses walked though. Then the portal closed and he was gone.

"Wait but I... *sigh* don't know how to open the door."

Rain said while dropping his shoulders a little. Walking over to the giant doors he reached out to touch the carvings in the door. On the door to the right was a dragon carved to look like it was holding a small jewel. On the left door was a woman dressed in robes, her appearing to be playing the harp.

When Rain was about to touch the dragon carving the doors opened. Hesitantly he walked in and looked around. It gave a completely different feeling from the exterior of the fortress. From outside you would feel if you were standing in front of the last boss's home. But inside was a place of beauty, the floor was a red carpet and dragon bone chandelier hung from the ceiling. Various paintings hung from the walls that were diverse and beautiful. Most of them were of people, of course Rain didn't know anyone in these paintings but something about them was unsettling. As if each and every one of them was watching him. In the back of the room was a giant staircase that split in the middle and went in two different directions. On top of the pillars that started the rails was two gargoyles. Rain flinched when he saw them, he could have sworn they were staring at him with their heads turned towards him. Rain rubbed his eyes trying to see if he was seeing things. Looking again they were just regular gargoyles facing away from Rain.

Rain started walking upstairs, looking at the carpet which was also on the stairs. It made him want to take off his shoes and feel the soft fabric. A carpet was something he had never felt in his life. He had seen one in the castle but it was hung on the wall So he couldn't touch it. When he reached the top of the stairs he slowly bent down and put his hand on the carpet.

It's soft....

Rain who had never even heard of silk was mesmerized by a carpet made of cotton. Moreover, the carpet was dyed red which made it rougher than normal cotton. But to him it was the softest thing in the world. He lied down and just laid there. After 15mins or so he got up to continue to look around.

After some pointless wandering, he found a room that had a sigh that said 'child's room' figuring it must be his, he walked in. It was a normal size room that had a simple bed and desk. The only thing that looked out of place was the view from the window. Looking out from said window one might think to see the sky, maybe a forest, or even the canyon where this castle was built. However, none of these views was there. What was there was something only a few people have seen and lived.

It was grassland, that should have been green with a gentle breeze. But this was not the case, it was stained red. With the blood of soldiers, what could be seen was legions of soldiers fighting to the death. Mages casting their spells and war machines firing their barrage of arrows and giant boulders. Rain watched for less than a minute before he shut the blinds and covered himself with a blanket.

Sitting on a bed in a castle owned by a powerful Mage, he wept, he called for his mother and father. They didn't come, he called for his friends. They didn't come, he called for his sister.
She didn't come.
