Reign Of The Blood King: Rain Ch 6 "Crying, Fear, and more Crying"
_________________________________________________________________________________

Night came quickly, Rain looked around and saw what looked like grass hills everywhere he looked. It was a full moon so it was very easy to see. It should be a beautiful sight but Rain felt nothing. This was because of the effects of 『Calm Mind』which basically turned off almost all emotions. But the spell was almost at its end.

"Child sit down, we need to talk."

"yes?"

Rain said softly while sitting down.

"The spell I use to talk to you before will be wearing off soon. Therefore all emotions that you would have felt will come in all at once. Now, let's continue."

He said while getting up and started walking again. After some time the spell wore off completely. The sound of Rain's cry could be heard near and far. But he didn't stop walking, he'd just cry and walk and cry some more.

                           ***

They had been walking for so long,
Rain had lost count of the hours. All he could tell was that when they left it was night time. While they walked the sun had risen and it had set again. Rain's legs were already at the point of feeling nonexistent. If he complained about it Ramses would cast healing magic on him. This would make the pain go away but only for a little bit. He had also stopped crying some time ago.

"Teacher, are we almost there?"

"Not much farther child, look you can already see my study."

Rain looked up to see. Only to find nothing but the forest they had been in since midday. He opened his mouth to speak but he stopped himself from questioning his new teacher. He knew he had to respect his teacher but other then that Rain didn't know how to act towards him. so he just stayed quiet.

They had walked a while longer, an hour at the most. When Ramses said

"Home at last, come child I trust you can find your room."

A slight nod was all Rain answered with. He wasn't sure what happened the forest that had surrounded them disappeared like it was never there. Now it was a canyon but in no way was it a normal canyon. Every bit of stone was black, so sharp it looked like you could cut yourself just by touching it. Right in the center of the canyon floating in the air was a fortress, fit to be called a dark castle.

"You shall rest for what is left of today, feel free to look around but don't touch anything. I most go and grab something I will be back"

As he finished talking a portal open behind them and Ramses walked though. Then the portal closed and he was gone.

"Wait but I... *sigh* don't know how to open the door."

Rain said while dropping his shoulders a little. Walking over to the giant doors he reached out to touch the carvings in the door. On the door to the right was a dragon carved to look like it was holding a small jewel. On the left door was a woman dressed in robes, her appearing to be playing the harp.

When Rain was about to touch the dragon carving the doors opened. Hesitantly he walked in and looked around. It gave a completely different feeling from the exterior of the fortress. From outside you would feel if you were standing in front of the last boss's home. But inside was a place of beauty, the floor was a red carpet and dragon bone chandelier hung from the ceiling. Various paintings hung from the walls that were diverse and beautiful. Most of them were of people, of course Rain didn't know anyone in these paintings but something about them was unsettling. As if each and every one of them was watching him. In the back of the room was a giant staircase that split in the middle and went in two different directions. On top of the pillars that started the rails was two gargoyles. Rain flinched when he saw them, he could have sworn they were staring at him with their heads turned towards him. Rain rubbed his eyes trying to see if he was seeing things. Looking again they were just regular gargoyles facing away from Rain.

Rain started walking upstairs, looking at the carpet which was also on the stairs. It made him want to take off his shoes and feel the soft fabric. A carpet was something he had never felt in his life. He had seen one in the castle but it was hung on the wall So he couldn't touch it. When he reached the top of the stairs he slowly bent down and put his hand on the carpet.

It's soft....

Rain who had never even heard of silk was mesmerized by a carpet made of cotton. Moreover, the carpet was dyed red which made it rougher than normal cotton. But to him it was the softest thing in the world. He lied down and just laid there. After 15mins or so he got up to continue to look around.

After some pointless wandering, he found a room that had a sigh that said 'child's room' figuring it must be his, he walked in. It was a normal size room that had a simple bed and desk. The only thing that looked out of place was the view from the window. Looking out from said window one might think to see the sky, maybe a forest, or even the canyon where this castle was built. However, none of these views was there. What was there was something only a few people have seen and lived.

It was grassland, that should have been green with a gentle breeze. But this was not the case, it was stained red. With the blood of soldiers, what could be seen was legions of soldiers fighting to the death. Mages casting their spells and war machines firing their barrage of arrows and giant boulders. Rain watched for less than a minute before he shut the blinds and covered himself with a blanket.

Sitting on a bed in a castle owned by a powerful Mage, he wept, he called for his mother and father. They didn't come, he called for his friends. They didn't come, he called for his sister.
She didn't come.
